An angel came to Mary and said, Mary, you have found favour with God. You will bring forth a son and call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. His kingdom will never end.
The time came for the baby to be born. They wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby keeping watch over their flocks by night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord." So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in the manger.
Three wisemen followed the star that led them to where Jesus was. They gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
The wisemen and shepherds returned to their own country, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen.
